AxSys Technology

AxSys is a company that is based in Scotland and founded in 2000 by a husband and wife team of two doctors following a career spanning 20 years of clinical practice. Through their clinical practice the founders recognised that healthcare was being delivered in an increasingly disconnected and distributed environment. Patients were receiving care not by one person but by a multi-disciplinary array of care providers often in different locations. Care delivery was becoming more fragmented, inefficient and delivered based on priorities and availability of providers rather than the priorities of patients. Patients felt increasingly disempowered by the system and this, the founders felt, had a negative impact on patient care, especially for those with long term conditions.
