Blue Cross and Blue Shield provides health insurance and healthcare management services. It is a federation of 37 separate health insurance organizations and companies in the United States. They directly or indirectly provide health insurance to over 100 million Americans through their combination under Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
It has signed contract with more than 96% of hospitals and 91% of professional healthcare providers in the United States. Its companies are enrolled in the Federal Employee Program, and they serve more than 5.3 million federal government employees, dependents, and retirees.
