Net-inspect

Net-Inspect provides supply chain and quality improvement software to manufacturers across the world.
Net-Inspect was founded by Mike Dunlop and his team at QPM Aerospace after successfully implementing the software in their manufacturing facility in Portland, Oregon. Net-Inspect is now used by over 6,000 companies in 48 different countries. Net-Inspect was originally developed in 1999 by Mike Dunlop and his team at QPM Aerospace, an aerospace component manufacturing company. The team needed a new and responsive quality system to complement the state-of-the-art manufacturing plant they were building in Portland, Oregon. The plan was to have all 45 of the facility's Mori Seiki machines fully integrated into the quality system. These CNC machines were the basis of a planned lights-out operation that would make QPM capable of competing globally in terms of both cost and quality.
The QPM team reviewed the existing quality management systems available and realized that to achieve their quality and cost goals, they needed to design their own system. The team wanted a proactive system that would prevent quality issues from occurring rather than just documenting them when they occurred. The early versions of the software convinced them that Net-Inspect’s advanced process management, with its rigorous root cause analysis (CAPA), would significantly reduce scrap and rework costs and reduce deviation in the machining process.
This process predictability, together with lights-out manufacturing, created a very stable platform that was used as the catalyst for the company’s sales growth from $300,000 to $30,000,000 in less than ten years.
