Years ago, while I was working at a Fortune 500 company, I had to fill in a time card every Friday. It was one of the most annoying parts of my job, and I promised myself that someday, when I had my own employees, I would not subject them to this agony.
Time passed, and I started my own company. Initially, I had one project and hired a couple engineers; we all worked in the same room. We did not need time sheets, because I knew what everyone was working on. For our next project, we had to keep track of billable hours. Once we had taken on a few more projects, we really needed to keep track of who was working on what and for how long. Scribbling time notes on a piece of paper every Friday no longer worked.
I started to look for a software product to help me track my team’s time. Some were too complicated for our small office, and others were not customizable, so we started to build a tool to meet our needs.
My team grew, and now part of our development team was overseas as well, and we needed to keep track of their time, too. Remembering the painful days of filing timecards, I wanted to make the process painless, so when we designed functions to keep track of the tasks, we made sure to automate the process.
The business continued to grow, and we added development groups and clients on three continents. Engineers were at work around the clock on multiple projects in multiple languages. As our needs changed, we added functions until, suddenly, it became clear that our tool—the one we use everyday—is more function rich, more user friendly, and more robust than any other time- and task-tracking tools on the market.
We discovered that our clients also wanted to use it, and this is how Team Task Tracker (TTT) came into being. Our need for a tool that accurately keeps track of time and tasks with minimum difficulty and is customizable so we can keep up with our changing work environment, prompted us to build TTT.
