Genomics is now a big data challenge. At the heart of our platform is the only data architecture designed from the bottom up to optimize the storage and use of massive genomic data.
This architecture was originally developed at deCODE genetics in Iceland to manage and mine the first truly massive collection of genomic data. By storing data according to its position on the genome, this system makes it possible to join data on the fly and deliver unprecedented computational efficiency. Today this architecture underpins preeminent genomics efforts on four continents and is the emerging global standard for organizing, mining and sharing truly large sequence datasets.
NextCODE was founded in 2013 as a spinout of deCODE to use this data architecture and the associated query tools and language to link disease causing variants to phenotypes around the world.
In 2015, NextCODE was acquired by WuXi AppTec, the China- and US-based open access R&D platform, and merged with its Shanghai-based WuXi Genome Center. The result was WuXi NextCODE, a genomics enterprise that combines world-leading bioinformatics and human genetics expertise with a full range of CAP- and CLIA certified sequencing. With unique end-to-end capabilities and presence in every major market, we are using our know-how and reach to benefit patients and populations worldwide.
